Townsville - Australian Institute of Marine Science

 

Client - Baulderstone Qld, as Managing Contractor for

               the Australian Institute of Marine Science.

 

Project Value - $25 Million

 

Project Achievements -

 

Currently in the design phase (April 2011), using full building information modeling for the ATOS building.

 

 

The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is an internationally renowned, world leader in the science underpinning sustainable development, conservation and management of tropical marine environments.  The main research facility is located at Cape Ferguson, 50km from Townsville, with facilities also in Perth, WA and Darwin, NT. 

 

 

The project involves the provision of civil and structural engineering services for a new Tropical Ocean Simulator building and a new office and laboratory extension.  The project aims to build significant national infrastructure to support cutting edge research on critical climate adaptation and mitigations issues such as ocean acidification and ocean warming.
