Civil Engineering Infrastructure Project

 

Townsville - Townsville Multi-Event Precinct  (V8 Track)

 

Client - Townsville City Council, Queensland Government and the V8 Supercars Organisation.

 

Project Value - $22 Million

 

Project Achievements -

 

 

The project was delivered on time and on budget under difficult circumstances including a record wet season.

 

The project was awarded two awards in the 2009 UDIA North Queensland Awards for Excellence being:

    Urban renewal

    Consultant Excellence

 

 

Flanagan Consulting Group partnered with Leighton Constructions to undertake the design and construction of the Townsville Multi Event Precinct locally known as the Townsville V8 Supercars Track. Flanagan Consulting Group were responsible for the delivery of the design for the track, site drainage and shaping, the pit building and bridge over Ross Creek.

 

The project was undertaken under a very tight budget with zero extensions of time provisions for the contract given the first Townsville 400 event had been committed prior to the project commencing.

 

The site was previously utilised as an old land fill site which made for very difficult and unpredictable ground conditions on which to place the pit building and civil infrastructure.
